Numinous.... (my favorite word)

Have you ever walked into a place and felt goosebumps rising on your skin at the presence of something unexplainable? Or walked into the woods and shivered because the energy there felt different? Magical.
Have you ever looked at a piece of art and cried? Heard music that shattered your soul then lifted it up again to rise outside your body?
Had a moment that inspired reverence?
A moment that stuns you with the presence of the sublime. Mysterious. Unexplainable. Magic.
This phenomenon can be described as “numinous.” It’s my favorite word 🙂

Numinous:
Meaning: filled with the presence of the divine.
“Mysterious or awe-inspiring"; also "supernatural" or
appealing to heightened emotions and being in the presence of sublime beauty. Or genius. To witness the work of an absolute master.
A master of creation can be human - in the form of an artist. But the ultimate master of creation is nature, which inspires art.
In my life I have experienced “numinous” often through art or outside in nature. I seek this feeling out everywhere I go.
And sometimes I get a glimpse of it when I’m giving a massage.
It’s a feeling of heightened awareness.
Sometimes with goosebumps. Chills. or a rush of heat.

It’s there in the moment when I can feel that my client has “let go” and transcended into a state of altered consciousness.
And we are both present in the exact moment of heightened awareness.
Sharing the moment together in our own worlds.
It’s a feeling of absolute receptivity. Receptivity to beauty. To the divine. To energy. To healing. To the mystery of life. To the unexplainable.
Just being in this state of receptivity is healing.
Have you felt this before?
What do you think of the word: numinous?
