In 2012 I got a one way ticket and moved out west to go to the
New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics.
I had just graduated from college, was 21 years old and absolutely miserable inside my body. I was suffering from severe acne, inflammation, bulimia, and low self worth. I just KNEW deep in my soul that going to this school would heal me.
I had never even had a massage before I came to this school.
But as we studied all kinds of holistic healing methods, I fell in love with massage and bodywork.
The school was magical. It was like attending Hogwarts 🏰 🧙♀️
We studied herbs, nutrition, energy work, and of course many different modalities of massage and bodywork.
In this nurturing healing environment, I began to heal my body and my relationship with my self.
After graduating I studied to get my massage license and passed the exam :)
I continued working in the student clinic until I had to move back home with my parents because I was broke and struggling.
I took on multiple jobs as a massage therapist - a chiropractors office, a yoga studio, and a cross fit studio.
I loved my career as a massage therapist but still wasn’t satisfied with my life.
I wanted to see the world!
I hated living with my parents, hated being broke. I wanted to experience luxury. I wanted to travel. I wanted MORE from life.
I took a leap of faith and got another one way ticket - this time to Ft. Lauderdale, the yachting capital of the USA.
I visited every single crew agency I could find and before I could try dockwalking I was super lucky and landed my first job after 3 days.
I moved onboard and that was the start of my yachting journey….
I traveled around the world for 5 years, living on boats, and when I wasn’t working I continued traveling on my own.
I LOVED it.
To survive the intensity of the work, I had to develop an unwavering work ethic, cultivate absolute PERFECTION at my job and push my body to the max with crazy work hours on charters.
I felt like I was running on pure adrenaline for many of those years.
Eventually I accepted a job on a superyacht at a shipyard in Germany.
I was tired and needed a break from busy charters. We were scheduled for a 9 month refit and I was happy to rest in one place after constantly being on the move.
Here’s where the story turns:
At the shipyard I met one of the carpenters working on refitting the interior of the yacht.
We fell in love 🥰🥰🥰
and when the ship left after 9 months I promised to come back so we could try a relationship.
While I was away working that summer, a series of unexpected events unfolded and he found a house for us.
We were so in love, we both just said YES to buying it.
An old house, out in the countryside with a large garden.
I had fantasies of baking all our bread and creating vegetable and flower gardens.
I needed to learn how to live on land after being at sea for so long.
To reconnect with the earth.
I moved here to Germany with every intention of going back to yachting at least part time, but love kept me here. 🥰🥰🥰
And that’s how I came to start my own massage studio - MASSAGE BAUM. It’s a place built out of love, for love.
I built my DREAM massage studio and discovered my love of interior design.
Every inch of this space is intentional.
To connect us to earth and the natural elements.
Every single item is selected with care. All the furniture is either handmade or vintage.
I am passionate about secondhand furniture and antiques!
I have been seeing clients here since 2019
and learning to slow down and enjoy a different pace of life in rural northern Germany
So this is where I am now.
It’s been almost 13 years since I graduated from massage school and my career continues to shift as I keep learning and becoming more of who I am meant to be.
I’m never going to stop learning, shifting, or changing.
Bodywork is a lifelong study.
and I’ve lived many lives in order to get to where I am today.
